After a very active week of winter weather I'm sure that we all could use a break. The good news is we will see a break from precipitation but the bad news is it will get colder especially heading into the weekend. In this blog update I'm going to discuss further what the forecast looks like in the next 7 days.
Tonight
Skies will remain cloudy with a low of 18 degrees.
Friday
Mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s. There will be a small breeze out the North at 12mph.
The Weekend
A few flurries or snow showers are possible on Saturday - 30% chance. The overall impact will be minimal but keep in mind that with temperatures being below freezing any wintery precip. that falls will likely stick so watch for slick spots. Highs will be in the low 20s. By Saturday night temps drop into the single digits with wind chills likely dropping below zero. Sunday will be a cold start and temperatures are expected to only rise into the teens. Although cold it will stay dry with a mix of sun and clouds. By Sunday night temperatures fall back into the single digits and wind chills likely going below zero.
Monday-Tuesday (Snow Chance #1)
Snow showers will likely begin Monday morning and last up through the afternoon. Some models are currently indicating a small break in the afternoon before precip. resumes through the evening and lasting up through Tuesday morning. Currently the models are indicating rather impressive accumulation totals but one thing to note is this snow chance is still four days away and models will change between now and then. That said I can't dive into specifics on this particular update. Another thing that will need to be ruled out closer to time is if the precipitation type will be snow or could it be sleet, freezing rain, etc. as those factors will determine the type of impact we see.
Wednesday - Friday (Snow Chance Round #2)
As of now some models have round two arriving Wednesday evening and a few other models delaying the arrival to Thursday morning. This round looks to last up through Friday morning. Like round one this system is still several days away so specifics will have to come closer to time.
Bottomline
After a cold weekend ahead and some dry time we'll be setting up for what looks like another active week next week. Stay tuned here to the blog and the facebook page as I'll have updates for round one likely over the weekend and another full weather update on Tuesday.
Stay warm & safe!
Have a great weekend!
