Good Morning and Happy Friday Southern Indiana!!
After yesterday's rain and sleet/snow mix for some today will be dry. It will be windy today with gusts reaching 25mph. Temperatures should reach the upper 30s for highs with a few areas making it into the low 40s. That's before cooler air arrives this weekend. By Saturday night temps will drop into the teens and Sunday's high only in the 20s. To top the cool down will be the chance for snow Saturday night into Sunday morning. At this point accumulation will be minor with most areas seeing an inch or less. A few isolated 1.5-2 inch totals are possible where snow is heaviest. Elevated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses would be the main concern for slick spots. Snow showers will likely come to an end Sunday morning.
Monday will likely start dry with some wintery precip possible late Monday evening. Temperatures will also rise back into the low 40s so slick spots should be minimal with any wintery precip that does take place. The overall chance for snow Monday night will be 30 percent. Snow showers will subside by Tuesday morning before picking back up Tuesday evening. This will be as temperatures are dropping back into the teens. Some sleet or freezing rain may try to mix with the snow. Overall there is the possibility of minor snow accumulation up to an inch with isolated higher totals possible. There's the potential the Wednesday morning commute may be impacted with a few slick spots especially on bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces.
All wintery precip should come to an end by Wednesday afternoon. Then the cold snap really sets in as lows Wednesday night will be down to 10 degrees some areas dipping into the single digits. Sub-zero wind chills certainly a possibility Wednesday night and again Thursday and Friday. Thursday's high will be in the teens and Friday only a high of 9 degrees. On the bright side it will be dry at the end of next week despite the really cold temperatures.
Be sure to join me for my next update on Tuesday.
Have a great Weekend!!
