Windy & Rainy: Your Tuesday Weather Story

Hold onto your hats! It's going to be a windy day today. The National Weather Service has all of Southern Indiana in a Windy Advisory from 1pm CST./2pm EST. today through 3pm CST./4pm EST. Wednesday. This is due to winds in excess of 20 to 30mph gusting as high as 40mph at times. As a result down trees, limbs and powerlines are possible.

In addition to wind today we have the chance for showers and thunderstorms. While severe weather isn't expected a few rumbles of thunder are possible. The best chance for thunderstorms will be late this afternoon into the overnight with maybe a few leftover showers hanging around in Southeastern parts of Southern Indiana through the predawn hours of Wednesday. Despite the rain and wind temperatures today are expected to reach the lower 60s and only dropping to about 52 degrees during the overnight.

By sunrise Wednesday everyone should be done with the rain making way for a dry day Wednesday. Along with the dry weather it will be even warmer with highs topping the upper 60s to possibly low 70s.

Going into Wednesday night we'll start out dry before another round of storms arrive during the predawn hours of Thursday. As of Today (Tuesday) the Storm Prediction Center has all of Southern Indiana in a Slight Risk for severe weather. The current model guidance has severe weather likely between 9am CST./10am EST. up through about 6pm CST./7pm EST. The main risks would be damaging winds and possibly a tornado or two. Temperatures will still be in the low 60s for highs and wind energy is also present so therefore there's certainly some fuel to fire a few severe storms Thursday. That's the latest on Thursday as of today be sure to check back here again tomorrow as I'll have the latest then.

Looking ahead to Thursday night the rain should be done just after dinner time. Then part of two of the big cold front bringing this system to our area Thursday will be a big blast of cold air Thursday night. We're looking at a drop from the lower 60s to the the mid 20s.

Friday will be dry but chilly with only a high of 36 degrees before temps dip back into the low 20s under partly cloudy skies during the overnight.

The Weekend...Dry weather expected both Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will be on the rise again with highs back into the upper 40s Saturday and mid 50s on Sunday.

Early Next week...More rain arrives on Monday as it stands now no severe weather expected just plain rain. Aside from the rain temperatures stay steady in the 50s. Some showers may linger into early Tuesday morning before becoming mainly dry with a high of 55 degrees.

That's your Tuesday weather story! Stay close to the forecast as we keep an eye on Thursday's severe weather potential!
