Relief from the heat and humidity in sight

After a hot and humid past several days there is some relief in sight. It's been a somewhat active evening with some areas seeing thunderstorm activity that generated a few severe thunderstorm warnings. That activity has since ended. As of 10:30pm CDT. there is still a few scattered storms on radar but much of the activity should diminish during the overnight with a few showers possibly hanging around early tomorrow morning.

More rain will be likely tomorrow afternoon and into Wednesday night. There's the possibility of a few strong to severe storms. It will be much like what we saw tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center does have all of Southern Indiana in a marginal risk for severe storms Wednesday. Main threats are damaging winds and hail. The tornado threat is low but not zero (this wouldn't be my main concern, but spin-ups are always possible in any thunderstorm). Overall the severe threat is low-end like tonight we could see another round of severe thunderstorm warnings tomorrow afternoon/night.

While rain will be possible Wednesday temperatures will still reach the upper 80s for daytime highs.

The rain chance will top 100% on Thursday as a cold front passes through. This will likely be a soggy day with rain much of the day. Showers should fizzle out by late Thursday night. With the combination of rain, a cold front and winds blowing from the North this will cause temperatures to drop. Highs on Thursday will likely only reach the upper 70s.

After a rainy day Thursday, Friday will come with dry weather and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will remain cool with a high of 80º. By Friday night skies will clear giving way to a beautiful start to the holiday weekend.

Both Saturday and Sunday come with sunny skies. Temps will only reach about 79º on Saturday and slightly warmer Sunday with a high of 84º.

The nice weather will continue on Monday but warmer with highs back in the upper 80s. By Monday night skies will become partly cloudy with temps falling to the upper 60s.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny but I can't completely rule out a few spotty showers in the afternoon and evening. The overall chance is low - 10%. Temperatures will again climb to the low 90s. Skies will cloud up again during the overnight Tuesday as our next system arrives Wednesday that will bring the next decent chance for rain.
